Copy-Q III Review
--------------------------------------
From: Erick Parsons
Copy-Q III by QR&D
This little guy does a bunch. It
has a fast copier for unprotected
disks that, speaking from experience,
will copy a full disk in less than 3
minutes. It is completely menu driven
and can copy unprotected disks with
either one or two drives. Drive
numbers can be changed from inside
the program.
For copying protected program
disks there is a really neat track-
analyzer that will scan the protected
disk, form a template and display
it on the screen. (It can also be
edited for those hard to copy disks.)
Fortunatly there are already some
templates on the disk for the harder
to copy programs (Broderbound, E.A.,
etc... ). The Track Analyzer also has
the capability of saving the formed
templates onto a separate template
disk.
In the Utilities section of the
program there is the fast formatter.
And I mean fast! There is a program
on the disk that can be used outside
of the realm of Copy-Q for fast
loading programs by typing fload
instead of load. And for those who
like to tinker, there is a drive
speed checker with a well graduated
scale (on screen) of 299-301 RPM. The
only requirement to use the Drive
Speed Checker is that you put a blank
disk in the drive. You can also
Catalog a disk from this menu and
Certify a disk (front or back for us
disk-flippers) for 100% error free
assurance.
As for being a good company to
deal with, I have had very good luck
with these people. In fact, I bought
their second version Copy-Q II a year
ago and received notice that they
were offering Copy-Q III for a very
reasonable price to registered owners
of Copy-Q. And any subsequent
programs or templates are also made
available for those in the Copy-Q
Clan at discount prices.
